OUR MOBILE CLINIC Our Mobile Clinic programme is a critical component of our commitment to deliver care to those most in need. Operating in the informal settlements and impoverished communities in the Swartland Municipality, the mobile clinic provides primary veterinary care and educates owners about responsible pet care. Dipping, de-worming and vaccinating are among the vital services it provides. Presently we operate using a bakkie and a trailer. We are hoping to raise sufficient funds to purchase a horse box to convert into a more effective mobile clinic to meet the ever increasing need for service delivery to the poorest of the poor. Please contact the kennels on tel. 022 409 2781 for our mobile clinic schedule. STERILIZATION CAMPAIGN
The problem of uncontrolled populations of dogs adversely affects not only the animals, which are often uncared for or unwanted and put out to wander the streets'. It also affects the human residents, who are at risk from sick and scavenging dogs, many of which suffer from parasitic infestations that result in zoonosis - transfer of animals diseases to humans, especially children Sterilizations for pet owners from our impoverished communities are regularly organized at our kennels in Darling. In addition outreach sterilization programmes are organized in outlying districts to afford those without transport the opportunity of having their animals sterilized.
EDUCATION PROGRAMME A new a education plan was introduced in 2011. 819 children were reached and the programme continues in 2012. |
